We enjoyed the beautiful gardens and picturesque cobblestone streets that led up to a little shrine at the top of the hill. the authentic atmosphere of the place was charming, with mostly original-condition décor. the family running the hotel were kind and hospitable, offering great food on beautiful dishes, while the indoor and outdoor hotsprings were wonderful and serene.
One small drawback was that some windows were missing and some floors were not well-maintained, giving the place a slightly crumbling appearance.

Authentic Meiji-era guesthouse, exceptional food, peaceful indoor and outdoor hotsprings, out-of-this-world service, shuttle service, patient with limited Japanese.
It was all superb.

We had a delightful stay at this picturesque hotel. The cleanliness was outstanding; everything was incredibly well-maintained. We were impressed by the splendid hotel facilities, which included indoor and outdoor hot springs. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had. The staff provided excellent transportation, offering to pick us up from the bus stop and take us to different activities. Additionally, the location was awe-inspiring, with a picturesque little shrine at the top of the hill between dramatic mountains.
Nothing bad to say.

Stayed in an old retro-style city hotel for a really authentic experience. The location is ideal for those who want to disconnect from the noisy city, as it is located in a quiet and peaceful area with breathtaking mountain views. The place offers a great opportunity to soak in a hot bath and appreciate the stunning view while relaxing. The rooms are comfortably cozy with traditional tatami mats, futon beds, and a beautiful garden view.
The hotel was a bit rundown, which made it look kinda uncomfortable. There were no modern amenities like Wi-Fi, and only one outlet for all your charging needs.

This weekend getaway was a dream come true. the peaceful and picturesque location was perfect for a relaxing stay. the rambling old guesthouse had a rustic charm to it, making it a unique experience. the hotsprings were the highlight of the weekend, especially the family bath that allowed for a private soak. the shuttle service provided was a great convenience.
The guesthouse was showing its age, with some maintenance issues like missing windows and creaky floors. Some elements like the lack of modern conveniences and only one outlet can make staying there somewhat inconvenient.
